NFG Showcases Breakthrough Technology at Symposium on Fusion Engineering

At the 30th Symposium on Fusion Engineering (SOFE 2025), Novatron Fusion Group (NFG) made a powerful impression showcasing its pioneering work in mirror-based magnetic confinement fusion. The event, hosted by MIT’s Plasma Science and Fusion Center and organized by the IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society, drew nearly 700 attendees from across the globe, marking its largest gathering to date.

This year’s symposium reflected a pivotal shift in the fusion landscape—from theoretical physics to real-world engineering and industrialization. The diversity of participants, ranging from startups with ambitious roadmaps to established public programs, all shared a commitment to commercializing fusion energy.

NFG was actively engaged in technical sessions and discussions throughout the four-day event. Representing the company were Mechatronics Engineer Bruno Verde, R^D Physicist Alessandro Moro, Development Engineer Daniel Drageryd, and Systems Development Engineer Jonathan Graesser.

It’s really inspiring to see different actors wanting to form partnerships to solve challenges that need joint efforts to pave the way for future fusion power plants
— Alessandro Moro, R&D Physicist at NFG

The team presented two posters detailing the successful commissioning and experiment control of the NOVATRON 1. These presentations highlighted the system setup, diagnostic integration and initial operational results—sparking enthusiastic engagement from both public research institutions and private companies.

We were thrilled to see the great interest in both of our posters, which was showcased by a lot of detailed questions about our company and the technology. Our work sparked meaningful discussions with researchers from both public labs and private companies
— Bruno Verde, Mechatronics Engineer at NFG
